Where Healing from Trauma Meets Zen

May 15 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

$50
As practitioners, we’re sometimes confused by the instructions in Zen to release attachment to our stories while simultaneously feeling pulled to respond to pain suddenly in need of attention. When the nature of trauma is better understood, transcending the attachment to our small self and healing the heart are activities that assist another, opening us up to full liberation.  This workshop is a beginning to help Zen practitioners understand the nature of trauma, recognize common ways it shows up in practice, and offer a compassionate path forward in the context of Zen. Dogen said, “To study the self is to forget the self.” Paradoxically, when we fully embrace the energies that have become cut off from consciousness, we are more able to release identification with the separate self.
